The Clash

Two representatives of the art world meet. Both have dedicated their lives to art. One out of passion, the other out of greed. The classical art market meets art flipping.

In the past, it would have been unthinkable to look at art from a purely economic perspective. Nowadays, this is completely normal in the art world. It conditions and destroys the market in equal measure. It often raises the question of the motivation to buy and whether it is still about the art – or about sheer commerce.

What happens when these two people meet?
And which side are you on?

Celebrating the Diversity of Science

“In a world of increasing complexity we need everyone on board“

Seven scientific institutes celebrate 30 years of cooperation in the Berlin Research Network at POP KUDAMM. The diverse research fields of the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB), the Leibniz Institute of Crystal Growth (IKZ), the Paul Drude Institute for Solid State Electronics (PDI), the Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS), the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (IZW), the Max Born Institute (MBI) and the Leibniz Research Institute for Molecular Pharmacology (FMP) allow us to have an impact on almost all areas of society. Our extraordinary research efforts show us every day how important the great diversity of research topics and approaches, management structures and leadership cultures is. We experience a great diversity of cultures, backgrounds and lifestyles in our institutes.

And that’s exactly what we want to celebrate! With elevator pitches, scientific crosstalk between fish researchers and quantum people, wild animals, crystals, pharmacological research, math and ultra-short lasers, and a good dose of fun. – Ever heard of powerpoint karaoke?

The evening will end with a concert by Saudia Young and Lars Vegas and drinks at the bar

An all-day festival of science at Pop Kudamm.

Blind Mirrors

Since the AIs replicate the images from the internet on which they have been trained, the works may reflect social biases. In the near future, this problem will certainly change – but it shows how dependent the networks are on the data sets.

Who should own the copyright of works created with AIs? The human or the machine?svensauer_artificial_interligence_versus_humans_faces_neon_grapAn additional topic of discussion is remuneration.

Another issue is remuneration. Because the AI applications earn money with the styles of artists, without the person who is copied participating in the remuneration.
